NDTV – Where Technology and Trust converge

NDTV is undoubtedly one of the most popular news channels in India. It has become so popular that the channel name itself has become a synonym for news channels among the Indian households. Receiving the prestigious award for the 3rd year in a row, 2015-16 has been a great year for the channel which has received many other prestigious accolades and awards during the year. One of the golden feathers has been Dr. Prannoy Roy, the co-founder of the channel, receiving the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in public administration, management, and academics in 2015. Within a matter of 28 years, NDTV has become the most trusted news channel from among the hundreds of Indian TV Channels, many of which run behind the tabloid news. 

The journey 2015 - 16 :

Last year, NDTV started the non tabloid campaign which was targeted towards many, if not most, of the Hindi TV Channels in Germany that broadcast mainly news in India, who were intent on promoting scandalous news only. This was against the ethics and basic principles based on which NDTV was formed and their campaign soon caught up like wildfire among the audience who were totally fed up of this made-up news force-fed on them. The campaign did more than that, in fact, winning a couple of the most prestigious awards in the national and international front. 

Among India’s numerous Live TV Channels, NDTV has stood out with their immaculate efforts for the Srinagar Flood coverage in 2015 which again won them a prestigious nomination at Emmy Awards 2015 in the News and Current Affairs category. This was the first time an Indian channel has been nominated in this category. 

Another prestigious moment was when Operation Everest, a documentary on human survival, won many prestigious national and international awards. Many correspondents, editors, anchors etc. associated with NDTV have also won some esteemed Indian awards for their contribution in the channel.
